Client Brief
Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd (MBFSL) is one of India’s leading manufacturers of biscuits and bakery products, best known for its flagship brands Mrs. Bector’s Cremica and Mrs. Bector’s English Oven. Founded in 1978, the company has evolved into a large-scale food conglomerate serving both retail consumers and institutional clients, including global fast-food chains. With a strong manufacturing footprint across India and an international export presence, MBFSL continues to expand its reach in the premium and mid-premium FMCG market.
Challenges
Ensuring consistent product quality for large quantity manufacturing across their plant network spread across India was a complex task for MBFSL. Operating 12 production line inspections with round-the-clock shifts, the company faced difficulties in maintaining accuracy, continuity, and transparency in its QA process. Manual record-keeping not only consumed significant time but also exposed the risks of data loss and compliance failures. The lack of real-time access to readings further limited proactive decision-making, creating bottle necks in operations and weakening audit readiness.
01
Manual Quality Checks
All production quality and packaging inspections were carried out manually across twelve production lines. This created inefficiencies, errors, and lack of transparency in reporting.
02
Data Loss and Audit Failures
Key production readings and inspection data were lost due to the absence of a centralized system. This led to serious non-compliance issues during a government audit, exposing the business to regulatory risks.
03
Shift-to-Shift Gaps
The factory operated on day-and-night shifts, but the manual process made it difficult for incoming teams to access the previous shift’s data. This lack of continuity created bottlenecks in decision-making and quality validation.
04
Lack of Real-Time Visibility
Supervisors and managers had no means to monitor production quality in real time, relying instead on delayed and fragmented manual reports.
Our Solution
We designed and deployed a Quality Control Management System (QCMS) tailored for MBFSL’s operations. The solution digitized the entire QA cycle, supported onsite and mobile-friendly reporting, and integrated with Power BI for real-time monitoring. It was modular, configurable, and scalable, ensuring MBFSL could adopt it plant-wide with future-ready flexibility.
-
Product Quality Index (PQI)
The system enabled cycle-based quality evaluations, recording and comparing metrics across shifts, lines, and zones. This allowed MBFSL to monitor trends and improve consistency in product standards.
-
Composition & Specification Checklist
Ingredient formulations and material usage were tracked against pre-definedstandards. Tolerance deviations were flagged immediately, ensuring adherence torecipes and specifications.
-
Equipment & Environmental Monitoring
Operational health of critical equipment such as sieves, magnets, and filters wasverified digitally. Environmental factors like temperature, humidity, and pressurewere monitored to maintain optimal production conditions
-
Production Monitoring Record
Data on weight, size, gauge, and moisture of outputs was captured systematically. The ability to differentiate between operating zones highlighted localized issues forquicker resolution.
-
Code & Label Verification Record
Batch codes, product identifiers, and labeling details were digitally validated. Anymismatches were flagged with operator comments, ensuring packaging compliance.
-
CCP & OPRP Control Checks
The system tracked critical control points such as metal detection and rejectionsystems. Compliance with both internal and external safety protocols was ensured, reducing risks of food safety violations.
-
Process Temperature Monitoring
Multi-zone temperature readings were logged and audited in real time. Anomaliescould be flagged instantly, enabling corrective actions without production delays.
-
Seal/Closure Integrity Test
Packaging seals and closures were digitally inspected for leakage or failures. Batch sampling and classification ensured packaging integrity before distribution.
-
Customizable Pre-Operation Line Clearance
Checklists for line readiness, cleanliness, and personnel hygiene were digitized. This streamlined pre-operation approvals and ensured timestamped validations asper requirement.
-
Weight & Measurement Control
Automated weight inspections were implemented at the machine level. Thissafeguarded packaging compliance while minimizing product giveaway.
Strategic Benefits
